At 07:40 on 15th June, Guilherme Serpa was walking along the Wetland Trail with Fernando Pacheco, when they found an American Pygmy Kingfisher Chloroceryle aenea perched by the bridge near the original tower hide. The bird, a female, was calling but quite settled and they managed to capture some excellent photographs.
American Pygmy Kingfisher is a rare bird in Rio state where the observers have only seen it once before. Congratulations to Guilherme and Fernando on a fantastic find!
